“The family that owns multilevel marketing company Amway and the NBA’s Orlando Magic is one of six new minority investors in the Chicago Cubs franchise, a source close to the team confirmed.

The DeVos family bought a noncontrolling stake in the team, whose controlling owners, the Ricketts family, recently sold minority interests in Cubs business entity Chicago Baseball Holdings to help finance the $375 million renovation of Wrigley Field.

Four of the six investors remain anonymous. The DeVos family joins Chicago businessman Andrew Berlin as new investors whose purchases have been confirmed. The entire group holds less than 10 percent of the franchise and has no voting rights but will serve in an advisory role to the Ricketts family.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell first reported the DeVos family’s stake.

The family’s wealth stems from 88-year-old Richard DeVos,  who in 1959 co-founded Ada, Mich.-based Amway, which last year reported $10.8 billion in sales. He broke into major sports ownership in 1991 when he bought the Orlando Magic for $85 million, a franchise now worth $560 million, according to Forbes.

DeVos ranked No. 259 on the publication’s 2015 list of the world’s billionaires, with a reported net worth of $5.7 billion. His son Dan DeVos is chairman of the Magic.

The Cubs enlisted New York-based financial advisory firm Galatioto Sports Partners to manage the sale of minority stakes in the team. The purchases were reportedly based on a franchise valuation of $1.8 billion, according to Forbes. The Ricketts family bought the team, Wrigley Field and a share of regional TV network Comcast SportsNet Chicago in 2009 for $845 million.”
